DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT PARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – TRANSFER TO THIMPHU (55 KMS / 1 HRS. APPROX.)

On arrival, you will be received at the airport by a representative who will be your tour guide and companion for the whole duration of your tour in Bhutan.   Drive to your hotel in Thimphu. After refreshing yourselves and having lunch, visit the Kuensel Phodrang or the Buddha Point is the world’s largest sitting Buddha statue, the statue is 167 feet high. The statue is situated on top of a hill overlooking the city of Thimphu, it can be accessed by road and is about 15 minutes away from the city’s center. The word Kuensel means everything is clear and from this place, you will surely enjoy a great view of the Thimphu Valley on both sides. OVERNIGHT STAY AT THIPMHU

DAY 2: THIMPHU LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

After early breakfast visit following places: Kuensel Phodrang or the Buddha point is the world’s largest sitting Buddha statue, the statue is 167 feet high. The statue is situated on top of a hill overlooking the city of Thimphu, it can be accessed by road and is about 15 minutes away from the city‟s center. The word Kuensel means everything is clear and from this place you will surely enjoy a great view of the Thimphu Valley on both sides. Motithang Takin preserve The Motithang Takin Preserve also known as the Thimphu Zoo by many is a small natural preserve for the Takin Bhutan‟s national animal. It was originally a mini zoo, but it was converted in a preserve later on as the Takin. Bhutan Postal Museum the postal museum captures the story of the evolution of communication, transportation and postal services in Bhutan. The story is told through a collection of various anecdotes, artifacts and a rich assortment of stamps Bhutan has produced over the years Simply Bhutan Simply Bhutan is an interactive 'living' museum that gives a quick introduction to various aspects of traditional life in Bhutan. Visitors are greeted with a shot of local arra (rice spirit), before being guided through mocked-up village scenes. Along the way, you can dress up in traditional clothes, try out archery and hear songs sung by Bhutanese women as they build houses out of rammed earth. It's touristy, but a good family experience.   School of 13 Arts and Crafts National Institute for Zorig Chusum or the School of Arts and Crafts is an Institute where students undertake a six-year course on the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. “Zorig Chusum” means the Thirteen Arts and Crafts. To preserve the country’s invaluable heritage and promote arts in Bhutan, the government initiated this institute in 1971. Students are taught painting, calligraphy, embroidery, wood carving, and sculpture. They also learn the traditional meaning and spiritual values enshrined in Buddhist art. On a visit one can actually see students at work. The students follow a comprehensive course that starts with drawing and progresses through painting, wood carving, embroidery, and statue- making. This institute not only helps preserve our beautiful heritage but also equips future generations with skills and knowledge to keep our own heritage alive. The 13 arts and crafts comprise of; painting, carpentry, carving, sculpture, casting, blacksmithing, bamboo work, gold and silver smithing, weaving, embroidery, masonry, leather work, and paper making. Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory This is a private factory and they manufacture a special watermark paper as well as products such as lampshades, envelopes and other objects made of traditional Bhutanese paper. Thangthong Dewachen Nunnery It is a Buddhist monastery in the small Himalayan country of Bhutan. The nunnery is located in Zilukha overlooking Tashicho Dzong and is a few minutes’ drive from the town. It is popularly known as the Zilukha Anim Dratshang. It was built in 1976 by the 16th emanation of Thangtong Gyalpo, Drubthob Rikey Jadrel.   The Bhutan Textile Museum or The National Textile Museum It is a national textiles museum in Thimphu, Bhutan, The objective of setting up the museum is to promote Bhutan's achievements in the field of textile arts and to sustain and promote the interest of the weavers to continue the traditional textile patterns. The museum also envisions to become the center for textile studies and research. The purpose is also to promote the history and culture of Bhutan. OVERNIGHT STAY AT THIMPHU

DAY 3: THIMPHU – PUNAKHA (77 KMS / 2 HRS. APPROX.)

Post breakfast, drive toward Punakha, and stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where on a sunny day, you can get stunning views of the Himalayan ranges. The Dochu La is probably the best-known mountain pass in Bhutan. Located at an altitude of 3150 meters above sea level, the Dochu La Pass is about 30 Kms away from the capital city of Thimphu and the road to Punakha. On a clear day, the pass offers visitors a spectacular view of the majestic eastern Himalayan Ranges. Then drive to Punakha Dzong the Punakha Dzong or the Pungtang Dechen Phortang Dzong is located at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and the Po Chhu River, combine to form the Puna Tsang Chu which in turn is a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra River. The Dzong was constructed by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1638 on the exact spot prophesied by the Guru Rinpoche some 800 years ago. DAY 4: PUNAKHA - PHOBJIKHA VALLEY – PUNAKHA (70 KMS PER WAY / 2.5 HRS. APPROX. PER WAY)

Morning breakfast at the hotel. Proceed for a full day excursion tour to Phobjikha Valley and Gangtey Monastery. Phobjikha Valley is home to a wide variety of migratory birds in Bhutan. A visit to Phobjikha Valley is a memorable experience for the guests. OVERNIGHT STAY AT PUNAKHA

DAY 5: PUNAKHA – PARO (135 KMS / 3 HRS. APPROX.)

After breakfast, drive to Paro, on the way, visit Tamchog Lhakhang Tachog Lhakhang is a temple that is dedicated to the 13th-century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder. Ta Dzong (National Museum) The name Ta Dzong translates to ‘watch tower’ and it served the function of watch tower for the Paro Rinpung Dzong. Back in the day, similar look-out points were built for other dzongs (fortresses) to counter any approaching hostilities, for those were the days of frequent strife. OVERNIGHT STAY AT PARO

DAY 6: PARO – TIGER NEST – PARO

Have early breakfast and drive up to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) the most famous and sacred site among all the places in Bhutan. Guru Padmasambhava is said to have come riding on a flying tigress to this place and meditated in a cave for 3 months.   The walk is about 2 hours till the top through wide pathways which were built during the restoration works. One hour into the climb there is a tea point from where you get a very good view of the monastery, they also serve lunch here. From there it’s about another 45 minutes climb to the 2nd view point and the highest point in the hike. Return back. OVERNIGHT STAY AT PARO

DAY 7: DEPARTURE FROM PARO

After breakfast, drive to the airport for your onward journey.
